Republic Parking System begins its five-year management contract to operate the MBTA’s parking system on Saturday.

The company will manage 10 garages and 91 surface parking lots, with more than 44,000 spaces.

Hours of operation, payment methods and garage keycards will remain the same, but expect to see new uniforms for employees, new vehicles enforcing the MBTA’s unattended parking facilities and new signs.

A new mobile parking payment application option, Parkmobile, will also roll out on Saturday. Parkmobile had provided the MBTA’s mobile parking payment system until 2014. Customers can download the app at the Apple Store, Google Play, and the Microsoft Store.

PayByPhone, the existing mobile parking payment provider, will continue.

The MBTA says Republic will improve facilities and will make up-to-date information about parking availability.
