Brookline Music School Hosts Muddy River Dulcimer Festival
Brookline Music School will host the Muddy River Dulcimer Festival on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 25 Kennard Road in Brookline. The festival promises to be a fun-filled musical experience for all, with three folk concerts, one instrument petting zoo, and an afternoon of workshops for beginner and experienced players. Dulcimers and merchandise will also be for sale.
An Acoustic Music Concert featuring Lorraine and Bennett Hammond, opening for Ari and Mia Friedman, will take place on Friday, April 26, at 8:00 p.m. in Brookline Music School’s Bakalar Recital Hall. This concert is free.
Next, Lorraine Hammond and Pam Weeks will present a free family concert and Instrument Petting Zoo on Saturday, April 27, at 2:30 p.m. in Brookline Music School’s Bakalar Recital Hall. Appalachian Dulcimer Workshops for beginner and experienced players will be offered at Brookline Music School from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Loaner dulcimers will be available during the workshops.
Full afternoon workshop tickets are $30.00 general, $20 for seniors and 10 to 18 years. Advance registration is strongly advised as workshop space is limited. To register for the workshops call Brookline Music School at 617-277-4593.
And finally, Magpie in Concert will round out the festival on Saturday, April 27, 2013, 8:00 p.m. at the First Parish of Watertown, 35 Church Street in Watertown. This event will be co-sponsored by the Brookline Music School and the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston (FSSGB). Tickets are $18 general admission, $12 for festival ticketholders and FSSGB Members.
